Additional S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Information

The world’s worst nuclear disaster occurred on April 26, 1986, at the Chernobyl power facility in the Ukraine. The area slowly recovered until 2006 when an unforeseen second explosion rocked the landscape, leaving a vast "Exclusion Zone" plagued with deadly energy disturbances in its wake. The quarantined Exclusion Zone expanded over time, and by 2012, specially equipped poachers, known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, venture into the Zone to claim radioactive artifacts for the black market. You are a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. battling for survival among rivals, soldiers and mutant creatures while trying to discover the true nature of Chernobyl’s dark past and horrific future.

What Customers Say About S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl:

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is an excellent experience that's somewhat marred by bugs. The gameplay is a bit on the average side; realistic gun recoil certainly helps it out quite a bit. In terms of performance, though, the game could get a bit laggy at times, although I didn't notice it too often. The one major problem this game has is the bugs. The AI is also excellent; animals and humans alike act realistically. It seemed that using the last save feature had a higher chance of corrupting a saved game that just loading the game normally. The plot was fairly entertaining. The atmosphere of the game is excellent; you really feel like you're in the Zone. Sound wise, the game also delivers.

Graphically, the game is pretty decent; the Zone is certainly very detailed. The cutscene graphics are also excellent. Towards the end of the game, I had to have 5 saved games out of fear that one of my others would be corrupted, although this was the one of the few times my saves actually got corrupted. Aside from that, I didn't notice any major bugs. All in all, Shadow of Chernobyl is a solid experience from beginning to end.

I've played HL2, Bioshock, Oblivion, Dragon Age, and the list goes on and on. There is NO emotional involvement what so ever. As far as the apocalyptic feel to the game, it seems poorly created. I also enjoy how the weapons display the various damage, handling, ect. It is simply a decent game. The graphics quality in the game seem subpar, maybe i have been spoiled by bioshock and Oblivion, who knows. Ok first off i've played a TON of games, so this is not the first time dipping into pc games. I like the variety of rifles you can find in the game.

You have to go and load into different areas, which i consider to detract from the free roam. Nothing like, oh i should help this person, or man i want to kill that guy so bad, it's more like, oh i have to kill this guy, oh i have to find a gun, very uninspiring. As for the good. Overall the game is a decent game, and if you can get this game for like $15 i would pick it up. The quests in this game also feel EXTREMELY uneventful. I can say first off that i don't consider this a BAD game. that the weapon does.

I can make a map and add baren areas with broken down cars and a few wood shacks and it would hardly feel apocalyptic. Half the time i've been playing the game (i'm about 20 hours into the game), i have no idea what i'm supposed to be doing, i just look at the map and see where the arrow is pointing me. I also enjoy that it is such a large game, HOWEVER it is not a open world like oblivion. But by any means don't expect a exciting or thrilling adventure

I played roughly 8 hours of this game and put it down, unable to take any more of it. Some games manage to pull off having a bigger and more open game environment. As a result, the game saps your endurance quite fast, effectively slowing you down to a crawl. Any of the Half-Life games are outstanding examples of FPS excellence. Actually, it's hard to see what this game has going for it at all.The inventory system in this game is incredibly annoying. Your inventory starts weighing you down after picking up only a few guns. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl fails as both an RPG and a shooter in my opinion. Go play anything from the Half-Life series.

Honestly, I'd rather be re-playing Mass Effect, Bioshock, or the Half-Life series than play this game, despite the fact that I've already played these games several times over now. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them.If you want a good shooter game, steer clear of this. Do yourself a favor and get any of these other games instead. Now consider the fact that you have vast distances to cover between each objective or scene in the game, and you should quickly realize what an incredible annoyance this can be. This game consists of bland, lifeless graphics, an awful lot of running around in large open areas, little action in terms of combat, and little in the way of dialog or story. They all have an interesting story, setting, and keep you interested all the way through to the very end and beyond with gut-wrenching action, flawless gameplay, and intriguing storylines. If you want a good shooter-RPG, Mass Effect and Bioshock have this game beaten by miles.

If you've played Neverwinter Nights, the concept is similar to how in that game loot made you become encumbered, except in this game this happens absurdly quickly. Due to this and a few other factors, the large open areas in this game as opposed to the comparatively linear level design of games like Half-Life and Half-Life 2 result in a whole lot of time spent running around, and a lot less time spent in dialog scenes or combat. They contain infinitely more interesting storylines, far more interesting action and dialog, and the graphics are stunningly realistic with vibrant colors as opposed to the kind of blocky and bland offering STALKER serves up. You won't regret it if you enjoy "thinking man's shooters."

After playing the demo, i had so much fun with this game, bought it worth every penny i put into it, but with so many bugs you most definatly must add all major patches before playing the game, but dont blame the game blame the sorry game testers for rushing their job, the game, the gameplay and graphics are great, only for pc only for desktops, i played for hours and hours and couldnt stop playing i played on the hardest setting and did everything in the game and tooks months to find all secrets, this game will keep you busy for months, though if your not a hardcore gamer this game isnt for you, maybe they should mix fallout3 and stalker together to make a ultimate stalker and fallout together. i recommend this game to the heart of gamers, if you enjoy being scared like the good old days when resident evil came out on playstation you will not be disapointed with this game, this game will scare you and surprise you tons of times, zombies, zombie animals etc. the game was a blast for me thanks amazon

I don't know about others, but my head doesn't rock side to side when I walk. Guess the games character must have a wooden neck and a bum leg.Trying to play this game gives me motion sickness big time.
